Lake Michigan

As far as I can see
Wide open water
Blending haze upon
The horizon
Wind breeze, inward
Still birds fly above
Building standing
Soundly looking
Over the waters
Blue sky green waters Waves of soapy white
As far as I can see
Cold winds against me
This I’ ve never seen

Visions out far land
Things I can’t see
Is it a boat? A house?
What may it be?
Haze upon the waters
This sight I’ll never forget
As far as I can see

Rewritten

Wide open waters
As far as I can see
The horizon
Blending haze upon
Still birds flying high
Wind, breeze inward
Stand buildings
Soundly looking
Blue skies green waters
Over mix waters
Waves of white
Cold winds again me
As far as I can see
Visions out far land
Sights I have never seen
Things I can’t see
What may it be?
Is it a boat? A house?
A sight I’ll never forget
Haze upon the waters
As far as I can see
